Susan taking pictures of snow in SedonaI have lived In Southern California all my life.

I have been to the mountains and many other states during the winter and have seen lots of snow. As strange as it sounds, I had to go to Arizona to see snow "falling" for the first time. It was February and I was on my honeymoon. My husband says that his favorite part of the whole trip was when I stopped the car on the side of the road one night to go out and spin around in my first snowfall.

Later during that trip, we drove less than an hour to Flagstaff, which looks very much like the local mountains in winter. Snowbanks, rivers and tall trees. Icy cold. Just minutes from the Sedona desert.

Another highlight of our trips was running into an old acquaintance, Robert Shields. Robert was once half of the famous comedy team of Shields and Yarnell and owns jewelry, art and dining establishments in Sedona. Robert studied under famous mime, Marcel Marceau and was a frequent entertainer at the Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Agoura. It was nice to see Robert again after so many years!

Our favortie dining experiences were at Shugrue's Hillside, The Cowboy Club, and Sally's BBQ. Shugrue's has great formal dining, Cowboy Club has semi-formal and causal dining. Sally's is a little hole in the wall, but has the best BBQ in town, possibly the entire west! Read about them, and where not to eat on the Eat page.

While we just did not find the bus trip to the Grand Canyon to be much to write home about, the Jeep tours were incredible and informative, as was the Verde Valley Train tour. Read more on the Do page.

Our favorite sites were the rock formations and vortices, the primitive ruins and Flagstaff. The drive up the mountain follows a little river that is just beautiful! Visit the See page!

We shopped the art, craft and new age shops. We saw "Love Letters" at the local community theater with Betsy Palmer. There is something for everyone in Sedona!
